About this place
Bite into a sugar-coated fried koppe roll and find warm custard inside. One diner described enjoying just that, making the Sugar & Custard Fried Koppe an appealing choice for anyone with a sweet tooth. The menu also offers a simple sugar-coated version, as well as options with kinako (roasted soybean flour) or chunky red bean paste, ranging from straightforward sweetness to more filled varieties.
For something savoury, choose from koppe rolls filled with chicken nanban, rich yakisoba or ham, cheese and vegetables. The chicken nanban comes with tartar sauce, while spicy mustard mayonnaise is available as a topping for the yakisoba roll. A diner who tried the chicken cutlet and egg koppe in the shop praised the soft bread and the cutlet’s crisp texture. For a lighter meal, there is a vegetable sandwich; if you want something more substantial, pair a savoury roll with a sweet one or some potatoes.
One diner also tried the fruit-mix sandwich, filled with whipped cream, strawberries, yellow peaches, kiwi and banana. They noted that blueberry sauce spread on the top half brought the flavours together. It is one to consider when you’re in the mood for a combination of fruit and cream.
Koppe rolls can be paired with Tajima Blend coffee, a café latte or tea, and drink sets are also available. The dine-in space is small, but one visitor found it relaxing, with an interior reminiscent of an old school. There is a breakfast menu, and both dine-in and takeaway are available. At the Sasazuka branch, koppe rolls can make a meal or a snack.
